A Little Room to Breathe
I finally had a few days at home this week.
And I can't remember the last time that happened.
I cleaned my house.
Mostly.
I juiced and froze the last of the grapes we picked before the bear could get them.
I had a couple of marketing strategy meetings.
I did some buying for the shop for next spring.
And I made the decision to move Botanical Studies from one plant every week to one every two (or even three weeks).
The people I love are still going through some really difficult things.
None of that has magically resolved.
But for the first time in a while, I had a few days to catch up with my own life.
I really needed them.
I am just so tired from summer.
I am relishing the silence, listening to the crickets that are so prevalent at this time of year, and looking out the window at my little peekaboo ocean view.
It is not a bad place to catch my breath.
I still have half a 20-foot shipping container of apples to deal with...but that's a next week problem.
Worth Noticing
Compared with the last few weeks, there aren't a huge number of major astrological events this week.
And I am so okay with that!
We're still in Virgo season, and there is something about this part of the year that naturally turns our attention toward the practical parts of life.
Work.
School.
Routines.
The things we've been meaning to finish.
The things that have quietly piled up while we were busy dealing with everything else.
On September 15, Neptune forms a supportive sextile with Pluto.
These two outer planets are retrograde and move very slowly, so this isn't the kind of transit that suddenly changes the mood of your Tuesday afternoon.
It's a quieter, longer-term influence working in the background, bringing Neptune's themes of intuition, imagination and ideals into a lovely conversation with Pluto's themes of power, change and what lies beneath the surface.
Then on September 17, Chiron the Wounded Healer retrogrades out of Taurus and back into Aries.
Chiron only moved into Taurus in June, so we've had just a few months with this new energy before it turns back toward territory we've been working with for years.
Sometimes we aren't quite finished with something just because we thought we were.
Current Astrological Landscape
The Sun continues through Virgo this week.
Mercury is now in Libra, bringing more attention to conversations, decisions and our ability to see another side of things.
Venus is in Scorpio, where relationships, money and what we value tend to become a little less casual. Scorpio likes to know what's really going on underneath.
Mars continues through Cancer, putting plenty of energy around home, family, security and the people we care about.
And in the background, Saturn, Neptune and Pluto are all retrograde.
There is quite a bit of looking back happening in the sky.
We're also only a few weeks past August's two eclipses, and some of what changed during that period may still be sorting itself out.
Maybe that's why this week doesn't feel particularly interested in rushing us toward the next thing.
There's plenty to do.
But there's also an opportunity to look at what the last few months have changed.
Expanded Transit
Chiron's return to Aries on September 17 is probably the transit I'm most interested in this week.
Chiron first entered Aries in 2018 and has spent most of the years since moving through the sign.
In astrology, Chiron points to some of our more tender places. The old wounds and insecurities that can stay with us, but also what we learn from living through them.
In Aries, a lot of that has centred around the self.
Who am I?
What do I want?
Where have I made myself smaller?
Where have I put my own needs aside?
When Chiron moved into Taurus in June, we got our first glimpse of a different chapter.
Now it is returning to Aries for one last stretch before moving back into Taurus next year.
So something familiar may come up again.
An old fear.
An old pattern.
A boundary you've had trouble holding.
Or maybe something you thought you'd already dealt with.
But you're not meeting it as the same person you were when Chiron first entered Aries in 2018.
And that might make all the difference.
You Might Notice
Old feelings or situations resurfacing
Wanting a little more room for yourself
Seeing an old problem differently
Questioning a commitment or routine
Feeling clearer about what you actually have time for
Realizing something needs to change, even if nothing is technically wrong
Who This Week Feels Strongest For
Aries — Chiron returns to your sign, bringing some familiar questions around identity, independence and your own needs back into focus.
Libra — Chiron moves back into your opposite sign, putting more attention on relationships and the balance between yourself and other people.
Cancer — with Mars moving through your sign, you may have more energy to deal with things at home or within your family, but also less patience when too much is being asked of you.
Capricorn — relationships and responsibilities may need some adjusting, particularly if you've been carrying more than your share.
A Good Time To
Catch up with your own life
Reconsider a commitment
Make more room in your schedule
Finish something that's been hanging around
Look at an old situation with fresh eyes
Change the pace of something you still want to keep doing
