The Peach Tree

We have one full-sized peach tree.

When we moved to the Orchard, it wasn't doing very well.

It grows at an awkward angle in one of those places that probably made perfect sense to the permiculture person who planted it. 

Every winter, my husband has carefully pruned it.

Never too much.

He babies her. She's his passion project. 

A couple of years ago, he even hand-carved a wooden stake to help support the trunk as she's leaning a little farther each year in search of sun. 

Little by little, she's found her footing again.

This year there are more peaches than last year.

And many more than the year before that.

Just enough to remind us that his patient care has a way of adding up.
