Have you ever made a big pot of herbal tea and never got around to finishing the whole thing, only to wash it down the sink a day later?
Well, never fear, because we have a waste-free solution for your skimpy tea drinking habits!
The next time you find yourself wanting a cup of tea, try this recipe for a hair nourishing rinse and a puffy eye poultice:
- 2 tbsp Sage (Salvia apiana/sclarea) leaves
- 1 tsp Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) flowers
- 1 tsp Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) leaves
- 1 L water Bring the water to a boil and add the herbs.
After you’ve drank as much tea as you’d like, let the infusion sit for at least 30 minutes or until it has reached room temperature, then place in the fridge overnight, leaving the herbs in the water.
Hair Rinse:
Strain the cold tea, and use the remaining liquid as a hair rinse, before stepping out of the shower.
Eye Poultice:
Place the strained herbs in a cotton bag/cloth and let sit on your eyes as you lay back and relax for 10-15 minutes.
And Voila! Zero waste, and maximum pleasure from a simple pot of tea!
