You can make your own Massage Oils with high quality cold-pressed carrier oils and essential oils. We recommend Healingscents carrier oils and Healingscents pure, unadulterated essential oils. Massage is wonderful for relaxation and for specific pain relieving treatment.
The general rule for using essential oils in massage are as follows:
For a localized area massage use a 4-5% dilution for an adult.
For a full body massage use a 2-3% dilution for an adult.
For a full body massage use a 1% dilution for the elderly, children and pregnant women.
Essential Oil | Carrier Oil | Dilution |
1 drop | 1 tsp (5mL) | 1% |
2 drops | 1 tsp (5mL) | 2% |
3 drops | 1 tsp (5mL) | 3% |
4 drops | 1 tsp (5mL) | 4% |
5 drops | 1 tsp (5mL) | 5% |
For a localized problem such as a muscle spasm or inflammation in a specific area, blend 12-15 drops of essential oil or a synergy blend to 1 Tbsp (15 mL) of carrier oil or base cream.
For a full body massage, add 15-20 drops of essential oil or synergy blend to 2 Tbsp (30 mL) of carrier oil or base cream.
The dilution for the elderly, children and pregnant women would be 5-7 drops to 2 Tbsp (30 mL) of carrier oil or base cream.
