Spring Detox – Let's do this!
I have a sneaking suspicion that the majority of us “health conscious” folks at least consider doing a little bit of a body/mind reset in the spring. I know I do. My internal dialogue usually starts around the middle of November when I promise myself that I will definitely start taking better care of myself in January. Then January comes and goes and so does February.. But then it’s March and spring is just around the corner!
Spring can symbolize the opportunity for a fresh start. Maybe you have started planning out your garden and are feeling excited about being able to eat fresh local veggies again or maybe you are two months into a new workout routine that you are loving and want to take it to the next level? The inspirations for a spring cleanse are endless!
For me, a spring cleanse means no wine, no cheese, no bread, pasta, or sugar, and considerably more vegetables, protein, water, exercise and sleep! Incorporating aromatics into the regimen makes the whole cleanse a lot more enjoyable and quite honestly, more effective!
So, for those of you who are also trying to eliminate some of your vices and want to incorporate some aromatics into your healthy routine, here are some simple suggestions that are low commitment and an enjoyable addition to your day:
1: Start a daily dry brushing routine.
Dry brushing sloughs off dead skin cells, improves circulation, and stimulates your lymphatic system among many other benefits. Your skin eliminates over a pound of waste acids everyday, so making sure your skin is healthy is the first step to ensuring efficient toxin release. For more info on dry brushing and instructions on how to do it properly you can read our blog post about it here:
2: After dry brushing, have a daily salt bath. Ideally this happens before bed: Add ½ cup baking soda and 1 cup Epsom salts, Dead Sea salts, Himalayan salt or a combo of all of the above. The above-mentioned salts all have varying amounts of minerals, which will aid in the body to eliminate toxins. The baking soda helps the body to absorb the minerals from the salts.
3: Add 5-15 drops of Healingscents Detox Synergy Blend to a tablespoon of Jojoba Oil. Either add this mixture to the bath or massage it into the skin afterwards. Alternatively you can just grab one of our Detox Roll Ons and you’re all set to go!
Our specially formulated organic detox essential oil blend helps to detoxify your entire system in the following ways:
- stimulates the kidneys to expel toxins from the body
- stimulates circulation
- promotes the flow of urine
- purifies the blood
- help to clear mucous from the intestines / intestinal cleanser
- stimulates the body when feeling drowsy (an indication of waste overload)
- balances the central nervous system
- clears spleen and liver
- increases gastric secretion
- stimulates bile production which helps the body properly digest fats
- helps stimulate pancreatic secretions
- revitalizes red blood corpuscles / stimulates white corpuscles / aids the formation of new blood cells
- acts as a tonic to circulatory system, heart, liver & kidneys & digestive system
- is a diuretic and antiseptic to genito-urinary tract
- helps reduce fluid retention
Follow these steps for the duration of your cleanse. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the obvious at this point: Drink lots of water with fresh lemon!
Happy Cleansing!
Yours in love, health & aromatics,
Leah
