Most of us love the sun. It feels so good on the skin and is a wonderful source of Vitamin D. Just feeling its warmth calms the mind & soothes the soul. So much so, that sometimes….you can get just a bit too much!
It’s so important to keep your skin hydrated and replenished with vital nutrients
after sun exposure. This simple recipe rehydrates the skin and encourages new cell growth as well as providing soothing and cooling sensations to the skin.
1/8 cup / 1 oz of distilled water
¼ cup / 2 oz of witch hazel
1/8 cup / 1 oz of cup 100% aloe vera gel
3% Essential Oil dilution of essential oils that have soothing actions on the skin.
48 drops lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
20 drops peppermint (Mentha x piperita)
20 drops Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum)
20 drops German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita (syn. Matricaria chamomilla, Chamomilla recutita (L.)
Add all ingredients to a 4 oz. glass spray bottle and shake. Shake well before each use. This recipe will store better if kept refrigerated. Spritz on skin as much as needed.
Substitution for children under 12
Use the same quantities of water, witch hazel and aloe gel but cut the essential oils in half and cut the peppermint in a ¼.
