Australia has provided the world with many great things: Vegemite, Hugh Jackman, and Ugg Boots to name a few. Australia is also the source of eucalyptus. This strongly scented plant produces an essential oil that is among the most magical substances in nature.
A few of our favorite eucalyptus essential oil uses:
Hair Conditioner
Eucalyptus oil leaves hair feeling moisturized, luxurious, and even prevents dandruff. A couple of drops added to your shampoo bottle are all you need.
Allergies and Sinuses
When added to hot water or in a diffuser, eucalyptus oil can help open sinuses and relieve some of the pain and pressure that comes from allergies. It can even be used as part of a gargle to clear phlegm and help to disinfect the throat.
Anti-microbial
In your laundry or as a hand soap, it can help to kill germs without harsh chemicals. You can also put it in a mop bucket or your toilet bowl.
Here’s is a recipe for a general cleaning scrub:
- ¼ cup of Castile soap
- 2 Tablespoons of baking soda
- 2 cups of water
- 12 drops of eucalyptus oil
Put the scrub into a squeeze bottle for ease of use. Shake before each use.
